5 Reasons Why Hydration is Everything

5 Reasons Why Hydration is Everything

Water makes up more than half of our body, which means that prioritizing the consumption of water will improve your mood, energy levels, physical activity, sleep, and even your ability to lose weight.

Did you know that over 60% of your body is made up of water? Everything that you are relies on water for its essential functions, right down to the microscopic exchange of energy happening in your cells as we speak. Therefore, your body needs water – and a lot of it. In fact, it needs more water than you probably realize, considering that 75% of Americans are considered chronically dehydrated.

Dehydration is not a state that your body wants to be in, which is why it’s so important to drink more water and make it a priority today.

Here are 5 reasons why hydration is everything:

1. Your Body Needs it To Function:

While you’re going about your day, your organs are humming along, providing critical services within your body. These organs need water to perform these tasks on your behalf, helping to do everything from regulating the toxins in your blood, to maintain the health of your liver. Your body needs water to function at the most basic level.

2. Water Keeps Your Body Cool:

Your body releases heat by expanding blood vessels close to the surface of the skin, which means that more blood flow and more heat is dissipated into the air. Therefore, when you are dehydrated, it’s harder for your blood vessels to widen, so you stay hotter. Water essentially helps your body to regulate its overall temperature flow.

3. Helps Muscles and Joints:

When you drink enough water, the water inside and outside your cells of contracting muscles provides adequate nutrients and removes waste efficiently, so you perform better as a whole. Water also lubricates your joints, which can remediate the effects of arthritis and chronic pain associated with aging joints. If you want to be nimbler as you age, drink more water.

4. Keeps Your Skin Supple:

We’re always looking for hacks to keep our skin young and radiant. When your body is lacking in water, your skin becomes less elastic, which means more visible wrinkles. Although water doesn’t necessarily prevent wrinkles, it does keep your skin elastic, looking rejuvenated as opposed to dry and flaky.

5. Body Cleanse:

Your kidneys need water to filter waste from the blood and help your body to expel liquids and toxins that are not good for it. Water prevents urinary tract infections and kidney stones, which are two things you do not want to experience.

Make Water a Priority

More than any other resource in the world, your body needs water. Drink more water, download a water drinking app, and carry around a reusable water bottle. The importance of hydration cannot be emphasized enough.
