Biography
Doctor of Chiropractic and Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist Louis Valencia, DC, CSCS: Dr. Valencia resides two miles from where he was born in San Francisco. He was raised in Marin County where the outdoor active lifestyle became a way of life, and at the young age of 16 years old he went to work as a fitness trainer to help others achieve their health and fitness goals. He has continued to do so in the San Francisco Bay Area as a personal trainer ever since 1984. In his zeal toward health he wanted to provide more than just fitness and nutrition advice to his clients, so he decided to expand his skill set to offer chiropractic sports care, physiologic therapeutics, active rehabilitation, fitness training, ergonomics, and occupational health promotion. He has been providing such services in San Francisco since 1995. While relief of symptoms from injuries and neuromusculoskeletal dysfunction is a reason some health care consumers and employers seek wellness, health promotion, and prevention services- 'modern scientific evidence indicates that the cause of most pain is functional in nature'. Functional sources of pain include decreased activity tolerance and decreased fitness, which is why Dr. Valencia emphasizes helping his patients and corporate clients increase their activity tolerance by introducing exercise and manual therapies when suffering from these acute and chronic neuromusculoskeletal conditions. Dr. Valencia's passion is in teaching self-care and fitness training skills for optimal health and peak athletic performance, management of injuries, and dysfunctional patterns of the spine, pelvis, extremities, and soft tissues of the body in a fun, safe, and effective manner. In addition, focusing on increasing fitness as a rehabilitation and preventative tool, but more importantly by increasing performance capacity for all levels of athletes, including the 'occupational athlete'!
