Biography

I am a Master Trainer, and Group Fitness Instructor, STAR3 Elite Spin instructor as well as a virtual wellness coach and perform private in-home training with a background/certification in fitness nutrition. While working as a personal trainer, I realized that there were no programs available to those who weren’t seeking the rather narrow goal of conventional physical fitness. In fact, several special needs populations were effectively barred from access to existing programs by barriers both physical and psychological in form. My focus is in behavioral health, working with special populations, persons diagnosed with co-occurring disorders, body dysmorphia, eating disorders, older adults, athletes looking to enhance their training regimen as well as the average individual whom is just dipping their toe in to the exercise pool, creating a space for individuals to train in a healthy safe place. I completed a five year Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration research grant promoting health and independence among chronically homeless persons diagnosed with mental illness (or co-occurring substance abuse and mental illness) whom have, or are at risk of, serious medical conditions or illnesses, with lifestyle interventions, including exercise and nutrition advocating for members and their families linking them to other members of the care team, utilizing evidence based practices. To improve the quality of people’s lives, increase their life expectancy; assure their stability in housing, and to help them reach their recovery goals. My work with the grant included close work with Veterans needs including PTSD and physical disabilities. In my work with SAMHSA, I acquired behavioral health certifications through Columbia Psychiatry, in evidenced based practices. I am well versed in HIPPA compliance and patient advocacy and the boundaries of patient confidentiality as well. I am certified in First Aid, CPR/AED as well as instructed courses to EMTs, Paramedics, nurses, and doctors.
