Biography

Candice Barnes, also known as “Coach Ci,” is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Nutrition Coach, and Behavior Change Specialist who helps people build strength, confidence, and healthier routines through realistic, sustainable change. She is completing a Bachelor of Science in Healthy Lifestyles and Fitness Science at Arizona State University with a minor in Psychology, where her studies center exercise science, behavior change, health equity, and whole-person wellness. As she continues her education, Candice will pursue graduate and doctoral training in counseling psychology and sport and performance psychology to deepen her understanding of the relationship between physical activity, mental health, motivation, and long-term behavior change. Her coaching experience includes working with women, children, families, older adults, beginners, people in larger bodies, individuals returning to movement after injury or prolonged inactivity, and clients navigating anxiety, low confidence, inconsistent motivation, or a difficult relationship with exercise. She understands that many people have been made to feel judged, overlooked, or out of place in fitness environments, and she is committed to creating a coaching experience that is respectful, encouraging, and responsive to each person’s starting point. Coach Ci’s mission is to make fitness more accessible, especially for women and communities that have historically faced barriers to quality wellness support. Her approach combines strength training, general conditioning, nutrition education, and behavior-change coaching to help clients improve mobility, energy, independence, and trust in their bodies. Rather than relying on shame, extremes, or quick fixes, she emphasizes a Healthy at Every Size mindset combined with gradual progress, practical habits, and movement that supports everyday life. She believes fitness should be a source of agency rather than punishment. Every session is designed to help clients feel capable, supported, and empowered to build a healthier life on their own terms.
